The Pod

The Pondside Pod is a unique, cozy, mini cabin available for day use/rental. Guests have private use of the property, including unlimited use of all equipment (kayaks, paddle boards, snow shoes, fishing rods, etc). Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely!  The pond is perfect for swimming and fishing for trout, as well as kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skiing and other motorized watercrafts.  With a good sheet of ice in winter, you can enjoy ice fishing, skating, sliding and snowmobiling, and snowshoeing on the shoreline.  It is a rocky pond (not sandy), but the slipway from The Pod has fairly even ground and a gradual grade before dropping off to deeper water. 

There is a variety of non-motorized watercrafts such as kayaks and paddle boards, as well as other water activity items (e.g., pool noodles, floats, etc) for use from May 1st – October 31st.  In winter months, there are snowshoes and sleds and an ice auger.  Fishing rods are available to use during open fishing season.  You’ll find a variety of games and activities that can be enjoyed year round as well.  Equipment information is provided for review, to confirm weight limits, etc.  Activity Safety guidelines must be followed, and guests are required to complete and submit a waiver prior to arrival. 

When you reserve the Pod for a Full Day, all guests have unlimited access and use to all equipment.  The hourly water equipment rental option provides access to only the item(s) selected when booking the rental time, for the length of time booked for the equipment rental.  

Yes, there are adult and youth life vests available for use; please refer to the Equipment specification page for details on PFDs available at The Pod.  Guests are welcome (and encouraged) to bring their own if possible, to ensure appropriate style and fit. There is a life ring buoy on site as well. 

Yes, beach towels are provided, if requested with your reservation.  The towels are available May 1st – October 31st, to align with the dates the water equipment is available to use. 

Yes, of course! Guests may bring their own Sea-doo, motorized boat, ATV for use on the nearby tracks/trails, etc.  Items brought by guests must be kept outside and are not permitted to be stored in the shed with the equipment provided on site.  

Reservations may include up to 6 people.  

The pod is equipped with a mini fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and an electric hot plate. There is a BBQ available for use outside.  Please note that the Pod does not have a kitchen sink, and disposable dishware is recommended for convenience.  We stock a small supply of dishware, a small pot and pan, mugs, and cooking utensils.  The water from the washroom sink is not meant for consumption; guests should bring drinking water. 

The Pod has a half-bathroom, with an incineration toilet and a sink.  Guests are provided instructions for use and are asked to review this information prior to use.  There is no shower in the Pod. Please note, the water is not meant for consumption; guests should bring drinking water. 

Pets are not permitted on the premises. 

Yes, and wood is provided for the fire pit, as well as fire starter blocks for easy lighting.  Campfires must be kept small only be lit if the wind is 25 km/hr or less (Google “current wind in Spaniard’s Bay, NL”).  

The Pod does not have a TV.  We encourage you to embrace the peacefulness both inside and outside the Pod, enjoy the activities and relax – unplugged.  For those who want to bring a device to watch, outlets and wifi are available.
